Portuguese Developer Coporgest Marks 20 Years with Major Entry into Hotel Sector

The real estate development company Coporgest, with entirely Portuguese capital and founded by Sérgio Ferreira, is commemorating two decades in business by announcing its 20th completed real estate project and a strategic entry into the hotel market. The company's founder gathered partners and collaborators to celebrate the milestone, unveiling a commemorative book that chronicles the firm's history and its extensive portfolio. The centerpiece of the anniversary celebration is the company's expansion into hospitality, a move that diversifies its business strategy and market positioning. The first hotel project, the Lisbon Chiado Hotel & Spa, will be managed directly by Coporgest's new Tourism and Hospitality division and is scheduled to open in September in Largo Rafael Bordalo Pinheiro, a prime location in Lisbon's Chiado district. This new business venture represents a significant evolution for the company, leveraging its deep experience in urban rehabilitation towards the operational side of the tourism industry.

The Lisbon Chiado Hotel & Spa, a five-star boutique establishment, was developed with an investment exceeding €20 million. The project involved the meticulous rehabilitation of two buildings located opposite the historic Teatro da Trindade. The hotel will offer guests 24 rooms and 16 suites, many with exclusive views of the capital and the Tagus River. Its service offerings are designed to compete at the high end of the market, featuring a rooftop bar, a restaurant with an outdoor terrace, a full-service spa with a swimming pool, and a dedicated events space. During the renovation, the company preserved three original tile panels from one of the building's facades, maintaining a connection to the city's architectural heritage. This focus on quality and historical preservation is a hallmark of Coporgest's development philosophy and is central to its brand identity in the luxury market.

In addition to its new Lisbon hotel, Coporgest has already begun construction on a second five-star hotel near Comporta, on the Tróia Peninsula, with an expected completion date in 2027. This project is part of the larger Comporta Beach & Golf Resort development, which represents a total investment of €180 million. The resort will include 37 private villas, 71 tourist apartments, and a hotel with 58 rooms and suites, indicating a significant strategic investment in one of Portugal's most exclusive coastal destinations. This geographic expansion demonstrates the company's ambition to establish a presence in both premier urban and resort markets. Over its 20-year history, Coporgest has constructed 250 property units, primarily in Lisbon's historic center, with a total investment volume reaching approximately €440 million. The company also played a pioneering role in the professionalization of Lisbon's Alojamento Local (short-term rental) market through its Lisbon Best Apartments brand, launched in 2012. Sérgio Ferreira, the company's founder, stated in a press release, “It was this defined and clear strategy from the beginning – to grow in a sustained and balanced way – that has allowed us, over these 20 years, to be a reputable and recognized company that has consistently recovered urban heritage of patrimonial and historical relevance in the city of Lisbon.”
