Havi to Invest €200 Million in its Lisbon Technology Innovation Center

The American company Havi has announced a significant investment of €200 million into its Havi TechHub, a technology innovation center located in Lisbon. The company also plans to hire an additional 70 employees and will inaugurate new, larger facilities in the capital city. This announcement was made on Wednesday, confirming a major expansion of its Portuguese operations.

In a formal statement, Havi, a global firm that specializes in integrated supply chain, logistics, and technology solutions, detailed its intention to increase its workforce at the Lisbon TechHub from the current 80 employees to 150 in the upcoming months. The company stated that this expansion is a direct result of its 'recognition of national talent, the dynamism of the Lisbon technological ecosystem, and the affinity with Portuguese values of innovation, collaboration, and a vision for the future'.

Lisbon was strategically selected by Havi approximately one year ago to be the home of its global technology innovation hub. The newly announced investment of around €200 million will be disbursed over the next few years and is expected to 'contribute directly to local economic development and to positioning Lisbon as a global benchmark technology center'.

The official inauguration of Havi's new facilities is scheduled for September 17th. The event will take place in the Cais do Sodré neighborhood of Lisbon. Attending the ceremony will be Havi's global president, Neil Humphrey, as well as Reto Sahli, the senior vice-president of Havi and CEO of the Havi TechHub. The company has indicated that it will present 'major technological innovations, investments, and other national and global milestones' during the event.

The company emphasized the strategic importance of this moment, highlighting that 'this inauguration marks a strategic moment for Havi and reaffirms the commitment to Lisbon as the brand's global center of technological excellence'.

Havi was founded in Chicago in 1974 and currently operates in thirty markets with over 7,000 employees worldwide. The company has had a presence in Portugal since 1993 and currently employs 250 people across its operations in Lisbon and Porto. The new investment is focused specifically on its technology and innovation division headquartered in the capital.

The expansion is expected to have a positive impact on the local community by creating skilled employment opportunities and reinforcing Lisbon's status as a key hub for technology in Europe. The choice of Cais do Sodré, a central and rapidly developing area, for its new facilities further integrates the company into the heart of the city's business and social life.
