New €63 Million Moxy Hotel to Open in Amadora This Month

A new hotel, the Moxy Alfragide Lisboa, is scheduled to open in the second half of September in the municipality of Amadora, representing a €63 million investment from Mercan Properties. The hotel, which will be managed by Ace Hospitality Management (AHM), is part of Marriott's Moxy brand and marks a significant expansion of quality hotel offerings in the area.

The project is located in Alfragide, a major business and industrial park at the edge of Lisbon. João Pedro Figueira, Director of Operations and New Business for the group, stated that the location was a key factor in the investment decision. “We are right at the gates of Lisbon, with excellent access, and in the heart of a business park full of life,” he said in an interview. He added that the hotel aims to blend a “lifestyle” atmosphere with the functional needs of business travelers.

The Moxy Alfragide Lisboa will feature 218 rooms, a 24-hour gym, a heated indoor swimming pool, and co-working spaces. It will also include a large congress center with four meeting rooms capable of accommodating up to 500 people, and a landscaped patio for outdoor events. The primary target market is the corporate and MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) segment, given the proximity to numerous company headquarters. However, the hotel also expects to attract leisure travelers and families seeking modern accommodations near Lisbon.

This hotel is the 15th to be managed by AHM in Portugal and represents the company's first major project in the Lisbon capital region, following successful developments in the North and Alentejo. Mr. Figueira confirmed that this is just the “first step” for the group in Lisbon and that they are actively evaluating new opportunities for expansion in other strategic locations in Portugal.
