Cascais Municipality Advances with €47 Million Investment in Seven Public Housing Projects

A visit to municipal housing construction sites took place on Wednesday, October 8, attended by Carlos Carreiras, the mayor of Cascais. In total, seven separate building projects are in development, representing a municipal investment exceeding 47 million euros. The financing for these works is primarily secured through the national Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR) and the government's '1.º Direito' (1st Right) housing program.

This significant investment is a core component of the municipal strategy to provide dignified housing solutions for all residents, aiming to strengthen social cohesion and improve the overall quality of life within the council. The projects are distributed across several key parishes to address housing needs throughout the municipality. The official visit began in the parish of São Domingos de Rana, at a site on Rua da Ara in Talaíde, where 12 housing units are currently being constructed. This specific project is designed to bolster the housing supply in one of the council's expanding areas.

The tour then proceeded to Rua de São Valentim in Conceição da Abóboda, where construction is underway for 36 new homes. In the same locality, the mayor also visited the completed project at Praça David Mourão Ferreira, which has already made 8 housing units available. These homes are expected to be handed over shortly to candidates selected in the municipal housing competitions. Investors and residents can monitor similar projects through our construction updates news section.

In Sassoeiros, a larger-scale project is in progress, with 52 housing units under construction. This development is one of the most substantial currently being undertaken and is intended to provide a response for a significant number of families identified with housing needs. Meanwhile, on Rua Ivone Silva in Alcoitão, work is ongoing for the creation of 18 new homes. This project is contributing to the urban revitalization of the area and diversifying the local housing options.

Finally, the visit concluded in Alvide, on Rua Engenheiro José Ulrich, where 16 housing units are under construction. This project reinforces the availability of public housing in one of the municipality's more traditional residential zones. In total, the Cascais municipality will make 182 new public housing units available to the population. Of this total, 8 are already finished and ready for delivery, while the remaining 174 will be allocated via public competitions that will be announced following the completion of the respective construction works.
