New €20 Million University Campus Inaugurated in Lisbon's Parque das Nações

Universidade Europeia and IADE have officially opened their new joint technological and creative campus at the Oriente Green Campus in Moscavide, adjacent to Lisbon's Parque das Nações. The project, representing an investment of 20 million euros, was inaugurated on Monday, September 22, in a ceremony attended by the Minister of Education, Science and Innovation, Fernando Alexandre.

The new campus will fully accommodate the IADE faculty and the Management and Executive Training programs of Universidade Europeia. The project specifications detail a significant footprint in the area, with the facilities occupying 17,000 square meters of a total 42,100 square meters of interior space. The campus includes 80 interactive classrooms, three auditoriums, a library, and various social and study areas.

A key feature of the development is a 2,000-square-meter ecosystem of advanced laboratories, including a TechLab with a Game Studio, a Media Lab for audiovisual production, a PrintLab for graphic production, and a 3DLab for prototyping. The building is designed to high sustainability standards, having achieved both LEED Platinum and WELL Platinum certifications, reflecting a focus on energy efficiency and user well-being.

The development is part of the strategic expansion plan for Europa Education in Portugal, which also owns the IPAM business school. Carlos Bertrán, the general director of Europa Education Portugal, stated in a previous interview that the project reinforces the institution's commitment to 'student-centered and experiential learning'.

The Oriente Green Campus building is owned by a fund representing Orion Capital Managers and is managed by the Portuguese firm Norfin SGOIC. The lease agreement with Universidade Europeia, signed in April 2024, is set for a 20-year term, indicating a long-term commitment to the location.

This move consolidates several of Universidade Europeia's previous locations across Lisbon into a single, modern hub. Previously, its faculties were spread across campuses in Santos, Lispolis, and Quinta do Bom Nome. The new campus is expected to bring thousands of students and staff to the Parque das Nações area daily, which will have a significant economic impact on local businesses and the housing market.

The investment by Europa Education and the choice of Parque das Nações for this major educational hub underscores the area's continued growth and its status as a prime location for large-scale, modern developments in the Portuguese capital.
